WHY DO WE NEED TO BE SAVED?

"You must be born again"

Romans 8:7-8 says: "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God."

"Enmity" is a strong word. It is active hostility. Maybe you have never thought of yourself as actively hostile toward God but God's Word declares that we are hostile toward Him until we are born again. We are truly helpless to please God before then.

One night a religious leader named Nicodemus came to Jesus. Jesus said, "You must be born again" and, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Nicodemus had been born in the flesh (physically), but had not been born Spiritually. We have been born in the flesh, but to please God we must be born of the Spirit! The Holy Spirit must give us new life.

John 3:16 says:  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

The new birth gives life that never ends, and this life is in God's Son Jesus, the promised Messiah. If we by faith trust in his finished work on the cross to save us, then we will receive the new birth and everlasting life! Instead of Nicodemus trusting in his religious system of fleshly works, he and we must trust in Jesus, as our Savior and Lord.

Philippians 2:10-11 says: "..that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Jesus rose physically from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God the Father. He has promised to return and judge the earth.

Acts 17:31: ."...because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”

Are you ready to meet Him? Trust in Him now if you are not. If you have any questions please call or come see us.

OUR BELEIFS

At Lighthouse Baptist Church, we believe in the inspiration of the Bible (both the Old and the New Testaments); the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of His people by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save men from sin; the new birth through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit; and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.
